Cookies and browser storage

Last updated 2 November 2026

The short version

The law on this is the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR). It covers cookies and anything similar stored on your device. So this page lists both.

1. This website (helioguard.io)

No cookies. This "session storage" is kept in the browser tab only, and deleted when the tab closes. It holds no name, email address or tracking code.

NameWhat it is forHow longStrictly necessary?
hg_originThe first page of your visit, the site that sent you and any campaign tag. If you start a free trial, it tells us which page or article led there.Until you close the tabNo. Used for our own statistics.
hg_toolWhich free tool you used in this visit, such as the AI leak check, for the same reason.Until you close the tabNo. Used for our own statistics.

The site works the same if your browser blocks site storage. Visit counts are kept on our server as daily totals, as the privacy policy explains.

2. The Helio Guard app (app.heliosmsp.io)

You sign up and manage Helio Guard in our app. It sets no cookies. It uses "local storage" in your browser for these:

3. Paying

When you pay, you go to the secure payment page of Mollie B.V., our payment provider. Mollie sets its own cookies there, for example to take the payment safely and to stop fraud. They are Mollie's cookies, under Mollie's own privacy and cookie notices. Mollie sets no cookies on our pages.

4. The Helio Guard browser extension

On a work computer with Helio Guard, the extension keeps these in the browser's own extension storage. They stay on that computer. Nothing here is a cookie, and none of it is used for advertising.
